LGBTQ+ therapy is a form of psychotherapy that is specifically tailored to the needs and experiences of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning. LGBTQ+ therapy aims to provide a safe, supportive, and affirming environment in which clients can explore and address issues related to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
During LGBTQ+ therapy, I will work with clients to explore the unique challenges and experiences that can arise as a result of being part of the LGBTQ+ community. This may include dealing with discrimination, coming out, navigating relationships and dating, coping with family rejection, and managing mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.
I have experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, and I am committed to helping individuals explore and embrace their authentic selves. Through the therapeutic relationship, clients can gain greater self-awareness, develop coping skills, and build resilience and strength. My work with the LGBTQ+ community and BIPOC communities includes an intersectional approach to treatment which considers all ways in which marginalized communities and identities are impacted by violence, privilege and power in addition to careful consideration and acknowledgment of various levels of possible oppression for clients that are members of the LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC communities.
